LA PLATA COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Vacation Bible School
During the 1970s through the 1990s, we had several children attending Vacation Bible School (VBS). Many of those years, we shared leadership and facilities with the La Plata Christian Church. In 2000 and 2001, we hosted a special kind of VBS. During those two years, we held a one-day event with the Christian Church on the lawn of the McLorn House. It was “Marketplace 29 A.D.,” and tents were pitched, each displaying a trade, craft, or activity from Bible times. Our church served as the Synagogue. A highlight in 2001 was a small camel tied in the shade by a tree. It was a fun experience for both children and leaders alike. We continued to join with the Christian Church for VBS for the next few years. Since 2007, CPC has not been involved with VBS; however, children may attend other local churches for VBS.
