La Plata Christian Ministries
Mission Statement: The Mission of La Plata Christian Ministries (LCM) is to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing food and clothing for families and individuals for the people of La Plata, Missouri and the surrounding area in keeping with Christ’s command to serve the least of his brothers and sisters. (Matthew 25:37-40)
Over the years, CPC has made monetary donations to the LCM. The giving started as annual giving, changed to quarterly and now, for the last few years, we make monthly donations to the LCM to support both the food pantry and the clothing center. Also, every month, we have designated food items that the congregation may leave at the church and the items will be taken to the local food pantry distribution center.
The Clothing Center provides good used clothing and household items to those in need. There is no charge for the items; however, free will donations are welcome. Both the Clothing Center and the Food Pantry are staffed by volunteers from the churches in the area.
The La Plata Food Pantry was established in 1985. Ronnie and Wava McHenry were founders along with 2 other couples in La Plata. They saw the need and took action to help people in our community. The Food Pantry has monthly distribution days and serves 75-100 people each month. Volunteers from our congregation assist with the distribution. Thank you, Ronnie and Wava, for your insight and care for others in our community.
